Because each piece of timber has it’s own unique characteristics, lamp bases are listed as individual items.  In other words, if you order this, the lamp base in the photographs is the one you will receive.   

MATERIALS

This lamp base has been made using a piece of PRIME BLACK WALNUT.   In other words, it is made using top grade timber, which is sourced from sustainable forests and FSC certified.   It is a beautifully rich chocolate colour with a straight grain and course texture. 

MAKING PROCESS

We individually make every LAMP BASE to order.  Our first step is to prepare the timber, which involves cutting, planing, routing and sanding the timber.  After that, we drill through the centre of the base to make way for the cabling.  The next step is to seal the timber with a clear wax coating.   We use clear wax as it does not change the appearance of the timber, it merely acts as a protective barrier from absorbing natural oils in the skin.  The next stage in the making process is to assemble the cable, which involves fitting the rocker switch and plug and then fit the bulbholder to the base and cable.  Last, but not least the lamp base is tested to ensure it meets the current regulatory requirements for electrical equipment. 

PACKAGING 

All lamp bases are boxed before being packaged for despatch.  Wherever possible we use paper or cardboard packaging.  Of course we have a duty to do our bit for the environment, whilst at the same time ensuring our products arrive undamaged.  Because it is sometimes necessary to use alternative packaging, all of it can be recycled so please do your bit too.

SHIPPING YOUR BLACK WALNUT LAMP BASE

We send all items via Royal Mail or Parcelforce using a Signed For service.  Shipping costs are determined by the size and weight of the item ordered, however you can choose whether the item is shipped first or second class.  Shipping costs for multiple items on the same order will therefore be determined by the total weight and size of the packaging required to ship.

CARING FOR YOUR BLACK WALNUT LAMP BASE

Please do not place the lamp base close to a direct heat source, for instance on top of a wood burning stove.  Also, do not place it close to a water source as this could react with the wax finish on the timber.  An occasional dry dusting should be all that is required.

All measurements are approximate.  We take every care to make each item to the dimensions specified, nevertheless a few mm difference is possible.  Therefore, a slight variance should be anticipated.
